A BREATH OF FRESH AIR FOR CIRCULAR QUAY TOWER
Find out how a range of innovative measures helped the yet to be constructed Circular Quay Tower earn Sydney’s first ever WELL* Core and Shell pre-certification rating.
Inspired by nature
Circular Quay Tower’s biophilic design means occupants can enjoy 50 per cent more fresh air than building codes require. The exterior building design imitates the form of a tree, and with a focus on natural light, occupants will have uninterrupted views of Sydney Harbour.
“More and more, tenants are seeking out workplaces that support a healthy environment. This new WELL certification for Circular Quay Tower, the first in Sydney for a yet to be constructed project, demonstrates we’re well on the way to delivering a building that will achieve just this,” said Kimberly Jackson, Project Director for Lendlease Property.
Healthy people in sustainable buildings
The achievement follows International Towers Sydney at Barangaroo South becoming the first in the world to be awarded WELL Certification for Core and Shell at the Platinum level, the highest certification available.
“Lendlease has been at the forefront of sustainability in real estate for more than two decades. Its leadership approach will continue to help shape the evolution of health and wellness in real estate globally – with Circular Quay Tower the next example of office design which demonstrates world leadership in both sustainability and human health outcomes,” said Rick Fedrizzi, Chairman and CEO of the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI).
Nearly 15 million square metres have been registered and/or certified internationally since WELL launched in 2014. Today, Australia boasts the third highest number of projects registered and certified internationally, including in square metres, behind the US and China.
* WELL is an international performance based system for measuring, certifying and monitoring features of buildings that impact the health of occupants. To achieve the Platinum status, developments require multiple features that meet WELL’s standards covering air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort, mind and innovation.
